This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Oversee and assess security events to pinpoint potential threats and vulnerabilities within the organization’s infrastructure.
• Employ advanced threat intelligence resources, security tools, and methodologies to identify and investigate security incidents, evaluate the impact, and suggest suitable mitigation strategies.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design and implement proactive measures aimed at enhancing the organization’s security posture and reducing risk exposure.
• Formulate and execute strategic plans for proactive threat-hunting initiatives to detect and address potential security threats before they escalate.
• Conduct thorough analyses of security logs, network traffic, and endpoint data to uncover anomalous activities and indicators of compromise (IOCs).
• Examine and triage security alerts to ascertain the severity, impact, and root cause of security incidents.
• Create, test, and validate detection engineering automation to counter threats, emerging risks, and vulnerabilities, thereby improving SOC detections and response times.
• US Citizenship and the eligibility to obtain a federal clearance, up to a Top Secret clearance.
• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience providing threat hunting support, including log and event review and incident response.
• At least one of the following or equivalent IT certifications: CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials), GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler), Security+.
• Proficient in utilizing KQL (or a similar query language) to support threat hunting responsibilities.
• Experienced in using SIEM, SOAR, and other tools to detect threat activities and incidents.
• Proven experience in delivering threat hunting support with precision for effective resolution and documentation.
• Capable of managing multiple cybersecurity incidents concurrently.
• Quick to adapt to new technologies.
• Able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Skilled in resolving new incidents without the aid of prior articles.
• Experienced in creating and revising SOPs and incident reports.
• Excellent communication abilities, with the capacity to convey technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
