This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.
• Develop and execute tailored credit scorecards.
• Enhance models for assessing willingness-to-pay and affordability.
• Review and optimize processes for debit checks and income verification.
• Create segmentation strategies for various customer risk profiles.
• Establish frameworks for risk-based pricing and approvals.
• Implement portfolio monitoring and early warning systems.
• Design comprehensive credit risk management frameworks.
• Establish lending policies, procedures, and governance controls.
• Develop processes for operational risk and collections management.
• Define authorities for credit approval and escalation procedures.
• Implement reporting on portfolio performance and KPI dashboards.
• Enhance strategies for managing arrears and collections.
• Assist in cultivating a healthy, scalable loan portfolio.
• Improve profitability and risk-adjusted returns on the portfolio.
• Optimize strategies for underwriting and collections.
• Support portfolio growth while controlling default risk.
• Provide guidance on provisioning, write-off, and recovery strategies.
• Define roles, responsibilities, and operational models.
• Mentor internal staff and leadership teams.
• Introduce best practices in credit operations and risk management.
• Assist in recruitment and capacity development as required.
• Over 10 years of experience in credit risk, lending, banking, fintech, or microfinance.
• Proven history of building or enhancing credit scoring systems.
• Strong background in unsecured lending and consumer finance.
• In-depth knowledge of affordability assessments and collections strategies.
• Experience in managing or advising on large loan portfolios.
• Demonstrated success in reducing default rates and enhancing portfolio performance.
• Experience in establishing credit policies, governance, and operational frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic problem-solving abilities.
