Senior Counsel – Complex Trial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as a representative for clients involved in high-profile and intricate insurance defense cases, encompassing catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, property damage, and professional liability issues.

• Formulate and implement case strategies, which include risk assessment, discovery, motion practice, and preparation for trial.

• Provide counsel to clients, insurance carriers, and adjusters regarding case evaluations and updates.

• Manage pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and negotiations for settlements.

• Function as lead counsel during jury trials, bench trials, and mediation sessions.

• Guide and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel.

• Collaborate with medical, forensic, engineering, and economic expert witnesses to bolster case arguments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active legal license to practice in California and eligibility for federal court practice.

• Over 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, particularly in complex trial work.

• Proven track record as lead trial counsel in several high-stakes cases.

• In-depth understanding of civil procedure, tort law, insurance law, and trial tactics.

• Demonstrated capability to manage and prioritize a substantial and demanding caseload with minimal supervision.

• Outstanding oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation abilities.

• Strong skills in client relationship management and the capacity to convey complex legal strategies effectively.

• Preferred background in catastrophic injury, construction defect, or professional liability cases.

• Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software is advantageous.

• Membership in local or national trial lawyer associations is a plus.
