Senior Counsel – Complex Trial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act on behalf of clients in complex and high-stakes insurance defense cases, such as catastrophic injuries, wrongful deaths, property damages, and professional liability issues.

• Formulate and implement case strategies, encompassing risk evaluation, discovery, motion practices, and trial preparations.

• Provide legal guidance to clients, insurance providers, and adjusters on legal matters, case evaluations, and ongoing developments.

• Manage pleadings, discovery processes, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement discussions.

• Function as lead counsel in jury trials, bench trials, and mediation sessions.

• Oversee and mentor junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.

• Collaborate with medical, forensic, engineering, and economic expert witnesses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law institution.

• Current license to practice law in California and eligibility to appear in federal courts.

• Over 8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation with an emphasis on complex trial work.

• Proven track record as lead trial counsel in numerous high-stakes cases.

• In-depth knowledge of civil procedure, tort law, insurance law, and trial tactics.

• Capability to manage and prioritize a substantial and demanding caseload with minimal supervision.

• Outstanding oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation abilities.

• Strong skills in client relationship management and the ability to effectively communicate intricate legal strategies.

• Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software.

• Preferred experience in catastrophic injury, construction defects, or professional liability cases.

• Membership in local or national trial lawyer organizations is advantageous.
