This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Compose original motions, pleadings, and various litigation-related documents for complex cases.
• Prepare and respond to written discovery, including the drafting of discovery requests and responses shared among multiple parties.
• Formulate and advance case defenses, litigation strategies, and trial themes with significant autonomy.
• Analyze and apply state and federal case law, statutes, and regulatory frameworks to case facts in support of pre-trial motions and other submissions.
• Interview, prepare, and examine fact witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives for testimony in litigation or before regulatory agencies.
• Conduct and defend depositions for lay witnesses, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives.
• Argue motions and represent in court as necessary.
• Prepare pre-trial reports, case evaluations, and conduct exposure and risk assessments.
• Engage in mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, and court-mandated proceedings.
• Create comprehensive strategies for case resolution and approach legal issues with creativity, sound judgment, and efficiency.
• Negotiate settlements with plaintiffs and opposing counsel.
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships through effective and professional oral and written communication.
• Involve in networking and business development initiatives to foster client relationships and support firm growth.
• A minimum of 7–10 years of litigation experience in a law firm setting.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active admission to practice law and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; preference for admission in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
• Significant litigation experience in one or more of the following areas: environmental law, commercial litigation, product liability, construction litigation, insurance defense, business litigation, or other complex risk management matters.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop junior attorneys and support staff.
• Strong people-management skills, including experience in delegating work, managing workloads, and providing constructive feedback.
• Demonstrated client service orientation with experience in managing client relationships.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines in a dynamic litigation environment.
• Proven capability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure while exercising sound professional judgment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Filevine or other document management systems is preferred.
