
Senior Counsel – AI for Democracy Action Lab

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Identify, define, and oversee intricate advocacy initiatives to further the objectives of the AI for Democracy Action Lab.
• Spearhead the creation of innovative legal arguments and litigation strategies at the intersection of AI and democratic principles.
• Conduct research, draft, and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal documents for impactful litigation.
• Engage with opposing counsel and maintain relationships with clients and government stakeholders.
• Oversee discovery processes, including document reviews and witness interviews.
• Mentor and supervise junior legal staff and law students.
• Write, publish, and present on legal matters concerning AI and democracy.
• Provide briefings to reporters and offer expert insights on legal issues and developments in AI legislation.
• Collaborate with policymakers and civil society, serving as a legal advocate for pro-democracy AI governance.
• A minimum of 10 years of legal experience (judicial clerkships may be included).
• Proficiency in AI and emerging technology law.
• Outstanding legal and analytical abilities.
• Entrepreneurial legal instincts.
• Capability to convey complex technical and legal issues to varied audiences.
• Bar membership in good standing within your jurisdiction.
• Proven experience in developing and directing impact litigation or plaintiff-side civil litigation.
• Creative entrepreneurial legal instincts for generating impactful ideas.
• Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills aimed at both legal and non-legal audiences.
• Ability to simplify complex issues for policymakers, journalists, and the general public.
