Senior Corporate Counsel, Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Act as a reliable partner and primary liaison for DigitalOcean’s teams, which include Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Operations.

• Perform thorough evaluations of legal risks associated with product development.

• Identify, evaluate, and facilitate the resolution of legal matters.

• Contribute to the long-term strategy, structure, and priorities of the product counsel function.

• Provide guidance on US and international privacy regulations as well as emerging AI laws.

• Assist in the drafting and negotiation of intricate commercial agreements.

• Support legal strategies for critical incident responses and regulatory investigations.

• Co-create scalable self-service legal playbooks, templates, and automated workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.

• Over 8 years of legal experience with significant in-house involvement supporting SaaS, PaaS, and/or IaaS product development teams.

• A proven history of advising AI product and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

• A humble, hands-on approach to handling projects of varying sizes.

• Demonstrated experience in applying sound business judgment to evaluate business and legal risks.

• A comprehensive understanding of US and global privacy laws, intellectual property, open-source software, artificial intelligence, and data security.

• Proficient in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements.

• Exceptional communication and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
