Senior Core Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and sustain highly scalable backend services utilizing Go.

• Take ownership of essential services that support Package Protection, Returns Protection, Claims, Orders, Tracking, and Email Parsing.

• Create and refine distributed systems and event-driven architectures capable of reliably processing high volumes of transactions.

• Develop and sustain REST and GraphQL APIs utilized by internal products, merchants, and external partners.

• Enhance and manage integrations with merchant platforms, carriers, and third-party APIs.

• Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and observability across production services.

• Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

• Provide mentorship to engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Engage in architectural decision-making and continuously enhance engineering standards and operational excellence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience in designing, building, and scaling backend systems.

• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and supporting distributed systems in production settings.

• Proficiency in Go, or experience with another modern backend language with a keen interest in mastering Go.

• Experience in building and maintaining cloud-based services, ideally within AWS environments.

• Familiarity with relational databases, distributed databases, and NoSQL technologies (such as CockroachDB, DynamoDB, or similar platforms).

• Experience in designing and constructing scalable APIs, including REST, GraphQL, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of event-driven architectures, asynchronous messaging patterns, and high-volume data processing.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or similar technologies.

• Experience with monitoring, observability, and enhancing platform reliability using tools like Grafana or similar platforms.

• Strong grounding in software engineering principles, system design, and scalable architecture patterns.

• Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, and offer technical guidance and best practices to mentor engineers.

• Experience in collaborating with third-party APIs, external integrations, or complex technical ecosystems.

• Interest in advancing engineering practices, operational excellence, and developer productivity.

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
