This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Oversee the design and implementation of control systems across various material handling projects.
• Create electrical designs, including field device layouts, control panel schematics, and electrical diagrams utilizing AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Choose components, design control networks, develop Bill of Materials (BOMs), and confirm equipment selections.
• Program PLCs and create HMI/SCADA solutions.
• Commission and troubleshoot systems on-site; assist with testing, startup, and validation processes.
• Offer technical support during installation and perform field troubleshooting as necessary.
• Ensure project delivery aligns with timelines, scope, and customer expectations.
• Aid in the development and upkeep of controls standards, templates, and reusable code libraries.
• Lead or assist in R&D initiatives and internal projects aimed at enhancing control capabilities.
• Collaborate with vendors to assess and implement new technologies.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering without sacrificing system performance.
• Act as a senior technical contributor on multidisciplinary project teams (including Project Management, Mechanical, Field, etc.).
• Mentor junior engineers and actively promote knowledge sharing within the Controls team.
• Engage in controls team initiatives, process enhancements, and tool development.
• Support recruitment initiatives and provide insights regarding technology and software vendors.
• Communicate effectively and proactively with project teams and leadership.
• Represent DCS with professionalism during site visits, client meetings, and supplier engagements.
• Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture.
• Attend weekly controls meetings and participate in internal training sessions.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (or 14 years without a degree), preferably in material handling or industrial automation.
• Proficient in advanced PLC programming and experienced in HMI/SCADA development.
• Familiarity with industrial networking architectures and communication protocols.
• Competent in designing control panels and selecting electrical components.
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable transitioning between design tasks and field environments.
• Resourceful, self-motivated, and enjoy addressing complex technical challenges.
• Strong collaboration skills, clear communication abilities, and ownership of results.
• Capable of managing multiple fast-paced projects while maintaining attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, based on project requirements.
