Senior Consulting Engineer – Government Cloud Managed Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver operational support, administration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management for cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments for Government clients.

• Oversee, sustain, and enhance cloud environments to ensure availability, performance, security, compliance, and adherence to SLAs.

• Execute incident, problem, change, and request management tasks in accordance with ITIL, security, compliance, and operational protocols.

• Address incidents, service requests, alerts, and operational challenges across compute, storage, networking, identity, security, automation, monitoring, backup, and platform services.

• Engage in a 24x7 on-call rotation providing support for critical Government client environments.

• Conduct advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, remediation, and preventative reliability enhancements.

• Implement Government compliance mandates and security frameworks such as FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, DISA STIGs, and CIS Benchmarks.

• Oversee cloud configurations, access controls, security measures, monitoring, logging, automation, and operational documentation.

• Execute approved changes, upgrades, patches, migrations, and configuration modifications.

• Create and maintain automation, Infrastructure as Code, scripts, runbooks, knowledge articles, and operational procedures.

• Conduct capacity management, performance assessments, health evaluations, and proactive remediation initiatives.

• Offer technical guidance on cloud architecture, operational maturity, security posture, automation, and service delivery.

• Liaise with customers, account teams, project managers, and internal stakeholders regarding incidents, changes, risks, technical challenges, and service performance.

• Partake in customer service reviews, technical discussions, and operational meetings.

• Collaborate with Customer Success, Professional Services, Security, Architecture, Sales, and Operations teams.

• Assist in pre-sales activities by providing technical expertise and solution recommendations.

• Investigate and propose cloud technologies, automation capabilities, security solutions, and operational enhancements.

• Mentor team members by sharing technical knowledge, operational best practices, and cloud engineering insights.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of IT infrastructure engineering experience, including cloud, platform, systems, network, automation, or operations engineering experience, OR 9 total years of IT engineering experience with 5 years of relevant infrastructure or cloud engineering experience.

• Experience with infrastructure or cloud solutions encompassing cloud platforms, enterprise storage, Windows and/or Unix/Linux systems, virtualization, observability, automation, databases, security tools, and service management platforms.

• Advanced-level technical certifications in at least two of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure Government/Azure GCC High, AWS GovCloud (US), and/or GCP solutions.

• Willingness and motivation to pursue further technical education through relevant certification and training plans.

• Experience in applying Government and industry compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FISMA, DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, or similar standards.

• Capability to conduct advanced root cause analysis.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.

• Capability to provide guidance, mentorship, and peer support.

• Ability to adhere to strict and urgent assignment deadlines.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.

• Proven track record in developing customer relationships, securing future business, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

• Experience in large-scale enterprise, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, or hosted data center environments is advantageous.

• 3 years of Managed Services experience is a plus.

• Certifications in cloud, automation, security, ITIL, networking, infrastructure, or platform are considered a plus.
