Senior Consultant – Research Contract Negotiations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Prepare, assess, and negotiate agreements related to research, including federal grants and contracts, nonprofit-supported research agreements, clinical trial agreements, subawards, data use agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, and corporate-sponsored research agreements.

• Ensure that contract terms align with institutional policies, as well as federal and state regulations, and fulfill funding agency requirements.

• Identify and address legal, financial, compliance, and intellectual property risks.

• Work in partnership with faculty, researchers, and departmental administrators to comprehend project requirements and clarify contractual obligations.

• Maintain established service levels, which include updating the system of record.

• Collaborate with faculty, principal investigators, staff, sponsors, and partner institutions to provide timely, compliant, and effective agreements that support the institution's research objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in negotiating research contracts.

• Proficient understanding of research compliance matters, including human subjects, export controls, HIPAA, FCOI, and data security.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and writing abilities.

• Capacity to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• JD, Master’s degree, or Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential is preferred.

• Experience in negotiating research agreements within a university, academic medical center, or research institute setting is preferred.

• Familiarity with federal funding regulations, including Uniform Guidance, FAR, and DFARS is preferred.

• Understanding of intellectual property and technology transfer considerations is preferred.
