Senior Component Qualification Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with component qualification engineers and engage with engineers from various disciplines.

• Mentor and guide less experienced members of the project team.

• Work on initiatives related to new nuclear facilities as well as upgrades and modifications for existing nuclear power plants.

• Utilize expertise in component seismic qualification, structural mechanics, foundation load and component mounting analysis, and ASME Code calculations for Section III and Section VIII vessels, valves, and pumps.

• Prepare and review design calculations meticulously.

• Assess vendor test and analysis qualification reports.

• Create and develop specifications.

• Update client design basis documents as necessary.

• Assist designers in the development of drawings.

• Conduct structural analysis and design for steel panels, cabinets, connections, equipment foundation loads, and supports, including considering seismic loads.

• Execute seismic qualification activities, including reviewing seismic test reports and preparing/reviewing seismic loading analyses.

• Potential to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering with a focus on Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in component qualification activities within the nuclear power plant sector.

• Proficient in structural mechanics analysis utilizing Mathcad software.

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis using software tools such as SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and/or STRUDL.

• Knowledge of design codes and standards including AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI, and ASTM.

• Familiarity with Regulatory Guides and IEEE Standards relevant to Seismic Qualification.

• Proficient with MS Office applications.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• U.S. work authorization is required; the employer does not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S.

• An MSCE or MSME degree, PE license, and experience managing automation/AI workflows are beneficial but not mandatory.
