This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Initiate and Direct the SCD Community
• Act as the main community manager for our new sickle cell disease community — establishing a visible, credible, and trusted presence from the outset
• Establish an atmosphere for authentic, safe, and culturally aware participation during the crucial initial months of launch
• Influence discussion topics, norms, and member experiences that accurately represent the real and intricate realities of living with SCD
• Encourage Meaningful Engagement
• Greet new members and help foster an environment where individuals feel at ease participating and sharing
• Support ambassadors and highly involved members who assist in enhancing trust, connection, and belonging within the community
• Generate thoughtful prompts, polls, Q&As, educational discussions, and storytelling opportunities that promote genuine conversation and practical peer support — addressing SCD-specific topics like ER navigation, gene therapy access, fatigue, disability benefits, and more.
• Nurture Safe and Supportive Community Experiences
• Oversee conversations to ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere
• Address misinformation — including unproven treatments — with nuance and education rather than censorship, while upholding evidence-based standards
• Assist members in finding reliable, evidence-informed resources while valuing the significance of lived experience and peer connections
• Advocate for Members
• Highlight member insights, recurring challenges, and emerging themes to the Product, Editorial, Marketing, and Research teams
• Aid internal partners in gaining a better understanding of the emotional and practical realities members encounter beyond clinical symptoms
• Offer suggestions that enhance how the Community, Email, Product, and Content experiences collaborate to better support members
• Promote Community Growth and Health
• Oversee a wider array of health communities in addition to your primary SCD focus
• Examine engagement patterns and community trends to refine strategies and enhance member connections
• Thoughtfully experiment with new engagement methods while remaining grounded in member needs and community safety
• Over 3 years of experience in building and managing online communities, patient communities, peer support spaces, or highly relationship-driven digital experiences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the capability to create thoughtful, supportive, member-centered experiences
• A quick, empathetic, and considerate approach to member interactions
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with care and professionalism
• Proven experience in building trust with diverse communities and promoting inclusive participation
• Comfort in collaborating across functions with Product, Content, Analytics, Marketing, and Community teams
• Recognition as one of the Best Places to Work by Business Intelligence Group in 2025 and 2026
