This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
β’ Take full ownership of commercial agreements from start to finish β encompassing initial structuring, negotiation, and execution β with significant autonomy and minimal oversight.
β’ Create, review, and negotiate a substantial volume of intricate commercial contracts: partnerships with MNOs and satellite operators, SaaS agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, vendor contracts, and OEM/hardware arrangements.
β’ Utilize AI to investigate and consolidate regulatory developments impacting NTN/satellite operations across pertinent jurisdictions.
β’ Act as the primary legal advisor for business development, product, and procurement teams β offering practical, business-oriented guidance that facilitates rather than obstructs deals.
β’ Navigate the unique legal and regulatory landscape associated with non-terrestrial networks (NTN), direct-to-device connectivity, and international telco partnerships.
β’ Develop and uphold scalable legal frameworks: contract templates, playbooks, and a contract management system accessible to the entire company.
β’ Participate in compliance initiatives and internal training as Skylo's commercial presence expands into new markets and jurisdictions.
β’ Collaborate with the VP of Legal to enhance and refine the operational practices of the legal team as the company grows.
β’ 5β7+ years of legal expertise with a strong emphasis on commercial transactions β this is not a generalist position.
β’ Significant in-house experience is essential; candidates without in-house exposure, coming solely from Big Law, will not be considered.
β’ Proven experience in a streamlined legal environment β ideally as one of the initial lawyers at a growth-stage company β where you have had to establish processes rather than merely follow them.
β’ Ability to articulate a contract review or legal research workflow developed with AI, including the changes made and metrics measured.
β’ Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements; you should be capable of leading a negotiation independently.
β’ Preference for candidates with experience in telco, satellite, connectivity, or related technology sectors; enterprise SaaS or hardware experience will also be taken into account.
β’ JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (or equivalent qualification for candidates based in the UK).
β’ A business-oriented mindset: you recognize that your role is to facilitate the company's progress, not just to manage risk.
β’ Exceptional communication skills and executive presence β confident in advising senior leadership and adept at navigating complex deal negotiations.
β’ Experience linking AI tools to a contract management or matter tracking system to minimize manual triage and status updates (a strong advantage).
β’ Competitive compensation packages that include a stock option-based equity program.
β’ Comprehensive benefits covering medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
β’ Monthly allowances for wellness and education reimbursement.
β’ A generous time-off policy, holidays, and the chance to work abroad temporarily.
β’ A unique opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of the world's first commercial, live direct-to-device satellite network and service.
β’ Access to a world-class team and talent across various tech domains: software, hardware, chipsets, telecom, satellite, and network virtualization.
β’ An open, transparent, and inclusive culture that integrates the characteristics of Silicon Valley, Nordic, and South Asian environments.
