Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development and upkeep of a container-based infrastructure that is elegant, redundant, scalable, and compliant, while assisting the team in achieving the same goals.

• Join the SmithRx Agile development team to facilitate the complete automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management within AWS.

• Acquire a thorough understanding of the challenges faced by SmithRx, both technical and organizational; collaborate with various teams to identify and implement effective solutions.

• Work in close partnership with our development team to create and sustain CI/CD pipelines in a reproducible and secure way.

• Monitor and resolve infrastructure issues, conducting root cause analysis when required.

• Partner with developers to ensure that applications and services are designed with scalability, reliability, and security in mind.

• Ensure peak levels of system and infrastructure availability, taking a proactive approach.

• Foster a collaborative learning culture by exploring new technologies, applying best practices, and experimenting with innovative ideas.

• Create custom scripts aimed at enhancing system efficiency and reducing the time required for human intervention in various tasks.

• Be effective in upholding SmithRX's security program controls and best practices.

• Comprehend the health regulatory landscape and ensure continuous compliance with frameworks such as HIPAA and SOC2.

• Make pragmatic decisions regarding technical trade-offs, infrastructure costs, and resource utilization.

• Participate in on-call PagerDuty rotations.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering.

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science or a related field.

• Extensive experience in containerized Cloud Native environments, particularly AWS and Kubernetes/EKS.

• Proficiency in utilizing modern monitoring tools such as Cloudwatch, Event Bridge, and DataDog, along with establishing metrics, monitoring, alerts, and dashboards.

• Experience in managing change management practices, policies, and procedures.

• Proven experience in deploying and monitoring applications in AWS at scale.

• Security-first mindset, including demonstrated experience in building secure development and test environments integrated into CI/CD pipelines and software release cycles.

• Experience in constructing and maintaining a container-based infrastructure and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (experience with Terraform is a plus), DevOps, and SRE concepts and best practices.

• Knowledge of infrastructure automation, systems reliability, load balancing, monitoring, and logging.

• Experience with FinOps practices and establishing related governance programs.

• Proven experience in fully automating CI/CD pipelines with associated tools such as GitHub Actions.

• Experience working in and designing for regulated environments with data privacy regulations like GDPR and HIPAA is preferred.

• Experience managing SQL and NoSQL databases such as RDS, Redis, Redshift, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and Snowflake.

• Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell, etc.
