Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud infrastructure.

• Create and manage Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform.

• Enhance and support CI/CD pipelines through GitLab and associated DevOps tools.

• Establish least-privilege security models using IAM roles and policies.

• Assist in vulnerability remediation and cloud security initiatives.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance deployment reliability and boost developer productivity.

• Troubleshoot database and infrastructure issues related to the services you provide.

• Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of automation and tools for data engineering teams to meet their objectives.

• Engage in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution alongside engineering teams.

• Share knowledge and expertise with fellow team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical experience in AWS cloud engineering supporting enterprise-scale environments.

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification is mandatory.

• Extensive experience in designing and supporting AWS infrastructure.

• Familiarity with supporting production cloud environments and involvement in incident management and on-call rotations.

• Proficient scripting and automation skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.

• Experience in supporting Linux and Windows-based cloud environments.

• Exceptional troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving abilities.

• In-depth knowledge of Database Technologies & Architectures including SQL Server, Redshift, or PostgreSQL.

• Strong grasp of techniques and strategies for ensuring high availability.

• Significant experience in the automated deployment of infrastructure and applications.

• Background in collaborative development, including code reviews and automation through deployment pipelines like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.

• Solid networking skills, including route tables, firewalls, and an understanding of load balancing technologies.

• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and alerting platforms such as AWS CloudWatch, Spotlight, ELK, and Prometheus.

• Understanding of Security and Compliance challenges, with knowledge of how to mitigate risks and enhance protection, especially concerning PCI, SOX, and GDPR.

• Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and resolution skills.
