Senior Cloud Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for extensive global infrastructure initiatives.

• Collaborate with architects and engineers to implement DevOps methodologies, standards, and cloud-based solutions.

• Advocate for and guide teams in Agile development and Agile infrastructure practices.

• Provide counsel on Infrastructure as Code, provisioning, continuous integration, delivery and deployment, as well as test automation.

• Explore future cloud-based technology growth opportunities to enhance organizational maturity.

• Strategize, design, implement, and train teams on DevOps tools, practices, AWS, and GCP platforms.

• Lead initiatives to identify and eliminate infrastructure and system-level obstacles that hinder productivity and quality.

• Recognize and execute process enhancements that support DevOps methodologies and cloud utilization.

• Monitor DevOps adoption and offer constructive feedback to teams and organizations.

• Direct and devise solutions for infrastructure, security, deployment, scaling, metrics, and IT operations.

• Conduct technology evaluations and internal audits to ensure solutions align with business and security requirements.

• Work Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of professional experience.

• Over 8 years of experience managing mission-critical enterprise-level systems.

• 8 years of experience with virtual machines, virtual networking, and storage utilizing third-party infrastructure.

• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code implementation and developing CloudFormation templates.

• Hands-on experience in developing and utilizing GCP and/or AWS cloud services.

• Strong grasp of IAM, networking, compute, storage, KMS, and encryption in transit.

• More than 5 years of experience in administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems.

• At least 2 years of experience with Docker.

• Extensive experience in developing cloud migration solutions.

• Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Nginx, Apache HTTP, Jetty, and Tomcat.

• Capability to manage the complete project lifecycle, including discovery, analysis, architecture, design, documentation, building, migration, automation, and readiness.

• Skill in configuring and installing relational databases.

• Experience in installing and configuring monitoring and metrics collection tools.

• Familiarity with Nagios, Cacti, Ganglia, CollectD, Graphite, and/or NewRelic.

• Experience in load and performance testing and analysis.

• Scripting proficiency in Python and Bash.

• AWS Certification is a plus.
