This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee Production Database Systems
• Administer and provide support for DrChrono’s cloud database environments hosted on AWS
• Manage MariaDB on AWS RDS, including tasks such as maintaining replica sets, monitoring replication health, performing backups and restores, configuring settings, and ensuring failover readiness
• Utilize Bytebase to assist in managing database access, modifications, and workflows
• Engage in database-related production support, incident resolution, and root cause analyses (RCAs)
• Assist with backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity protocols
• Lead proactive troubleshooting of database performance issues within the production environment
• Evaluate slow queries, locking, replication lag, indexing, connection behaviors, and various workload patterns
• Optimize queries, indexes, schema patterns, and database configurations to enhance performance and reliability
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify application-level database challenges and propose effective solutions
• Establish repeatable processes for diagnosing and resolving recurring database problems
• Define standards for database administration, access control, change management, and release support
• Support capacity planning, scaling decisions, and the overall management of the database lifecycle
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for database environments, operational procedures, and recovery processes
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to ensure the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI)
• 8+ years of experience in database administration within production software environments
• Extensive experience with MariaDB on AWS RDS
• Proficient experience with AWS Aurora
• Practical experience in administering AWS-hosted database services
• Strong skills in troubleshooting database performance issues in production settings
• Solid database performance tuning capabilities, including query evaluation, indexing, locking, schema examination, and workload optimization
• Familiarity with using Bytebase for database management, modifications, or workflow support
• Experience managing RDS replica sets, monitoring replication behavior, ensuring failover readiness, and handling backups and production operations
• Direct experience with Redis in production contexts
• Comprehensive understanding of database reliability, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and operational best practices
• Significant experience supporting SaaS, cloud-hosted, or high-availability database platforms
• Background in healthcare technology, healthcare SaaS, or other regulated data environments (highly preferred)
• Experience with HIPAA-compliant systems and secure handling of PHI (highly preferred)
• Proven ability to collaborate with SRE, DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering teams (highly preferred)
