Senior Clinical Documentation Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Facilitate clinical documentation to support the capture of diagnoses and ensure accurate recording of the service level provided in the medical record.

• Analyze medical record documentation for symptoms and clinical indicators to identify potential primary and secondary diagnoses, as well as complications.

• Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to address the need for more detailed information in medical records.

• Develop and disseminate physician documentation clarification queries in accordance with coding guidelines and relevant compliance standards.

• Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing documentation practices and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Act as a subject matter expert in clinical documentation and coding protocols.

• Share expertise and knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders.

• Utilize knowledge of clinical complications, co-morbidities, illness severity, mortality risk, case mix index, secondary diagnoses, and procedural impacts on the final diagnosis-related group (DRG).

⛳️ Requirements

• Clinical Documentation Professional credential from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists, obtained prior to the hire date or job transfer date.

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR an Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience, OR 5 years of relevant cumulative job-specific experience required.

• A minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience is preferred.
