Senior Client Accounting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Management of client relationships

• Oversee a portfolio of accounting clients based in the UK.

• Serve as the main point of contact for designated clients.

• Foster and sustain strong, professional relationships with clients.

• Hold regular meetings with clients and provide clear updates on progress.

• Quickly address client inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed.

• Monitor client satisfaction, retention, risks, and potential service opportunities.

• Keep precise records of client activities using Salesforce or a comparable CRM system.

• Service delivery and quality assurance responsibilities

• Oversee the provision of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts, year-end accounts, and audit support services.

• Review work completed prior to client submission.

• Ensure that work adheres to company quality standards and meets client expectations.

• Offer clear feedback and corrections to team members.

• Reduce errors, review points, rework, and client amendments.

• Ensure all client deadlines and service-level expectations are met.

• Workload and project management

• Assign work based on team capacity, priorities, and deadlines.

• Monitor progress across assigned client portfolios.

• Track project budgets and hours worked against agreed budgets.

• Identify delivery bottlenecks and take corrective measures.

• Facilitate effective communication between clients, accounting teams, and internal departments.

• Relay changes in client priorities and deadlines to relevant team members.

• Team support and communication

• Maintain consistent communication with accountants and bookkeepers.

• Conduct weekly team and workflow meetings.

• Monitor productivity, workloads, and service delivery.

• Provide coaching, support, and constructive feedback.

• Assist team members with accounting, bookkeeping, software, and client-related inquiries.

• Escalate technical, operational, or performance issues when necessary.

• Client onboarding process

• Coordinate the onboarding process for new clients.

• Develop onboarding and implementation strategies.

• Document client processes, requirements, and workflows.

• Ensure a seamless transition into ongoing service delivery.

• Monitor onboarding progress and address any issues promptly.

• Maintain accurate standard operating procedures, training materials, and client documentation.

• Compliance and process enhancement

• Ensure client work aligns with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, VAT regulations, payroll guidelines, and internal protocols.

• Stay updated on relevant regulatory and technical developments.

• Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.

• Support initiatives for automation and workflow standardization.

• Aid in enhancing productivity, turnaround times, and client experience.

• Billing and month-end assistance

• Review team timesheets and Lists of Duties for assigned clients.

• Reconcile hours worked against budgeted hours.

• Ensure all completed work is accurately recorded prior to month-end.

• Update billing details and validate billable hours.

• Prepare notes covering additional work, write-offs, credited hours, scope changes, and other billing adjustments.

• Ensure client-facing reports and billing documentation are precise and issued punctually.


⛳️ Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, client services, or account management within an accounting practice.

• Experience managing multiple client portfolios and deadlines.

• Experience in coordinating accountants, bookkeepers, or outsourced finance teams.

• Experience reviewing bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts, or year-end accounts.

• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, management accounts, and annual financial statements.

• Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or CaseWare.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

• Strong skills in client relationship management and communication.

• Excellent organizational and time-management capabilities.

• High attention to detail.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Confidence in coordinating remote teams.
