Senior Civil Engineer

📋 Description

• The SR Civil Engineer at Signal Energy is responsible for overseeing all technical tasks and assisting in engineering management for designated projects from the receipt of the RFP to the Issued for Construction (“IFC”) plan sets.

• This role entails a thorough understanding of design criteria and the coordination of both internal and external Engineers of Record (“EOR”).

• The engineer will drive Signal Energy’s Basis of Design through the Issued-For-Construction (IFC) plan sets, ensuring that civil designs meet or exceed the established scope, schedule, budget, constructability, and safety expectations.

• Support will be provided for both EOR-led and in-house civil design projects, contributing to the development, coordination, and delivery of comprehensive and constructible civil design packages.

• The position involves integrating site-specific conditions, geotechnical information, and interdisciplinary inputs to produce coordinated civil designs that facilitate efficient construction and successful project execution for utility-scale solar and BESS facilities.

• Review and interpretation of geotechnical reports are required to identify site-specific risks, design constraints, and mitigation strategies.

• The engineer will lead and conduct QA/QC reviews of civil drawings, calculations, and specifications before submission and IFC issuance.

• Responsibilities include identifying, communicating, and mitigating civil-related cost, schedule, and constructability risks, in addition to leading value engineering initiatives to enhance project outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Civil Engineering) from an accredited institution is required.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in the planning, design, and/or operations of photovoltaic systems is essential.

• A Professional Engineer license in one or more US states is necessary.

• The candidate must be comfortable with both technical aspects of the role and interactions with clients and management.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including the ability to compose clear and detailed technical reports, RFI responses, presentations, and emails.

• The ideal candidate should be a supportive team member, capable of collaborating effectively as well as managing self-directed independent projects.

• Self-motivation and the ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines are essential attributes.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, HECRAS, Flow2D, PVcase, PVsyst, and Procore is preferred.
