This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the design, development, integration, and execution of enterprise IaaS solutions that support private cloud SDDC modernization efforts.
• Act as the technical lead for VMware-based private cloud infrastructure.
• Direct and coordinate engineering disciplines related to Platform, Network, Firewall, and Backup & Recovery.
• Create enterprise infrastructure architectures that support ECS, CPS, IaaS, DevOps, and SMC.
• Design and implement virtualization solutions utilizing VMware Cloud Foundation, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and AVI.
• Spearhead Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation initiatives using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
• Collaborate with teams in infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps for enterprise integration.
• Facilitate cross-functional engineering reviews addressing automation, platform configuration, networking, security controls, and backup solutions.
• Manage the infrastructure engineering backlog, including user stories, acceptance criteria, prioritization, and Agile delivery.
• Develop and sustain the IaaS engineering roadmap while tracking dependencies, milestones, and architectural decisions in Jira.
• Address cross-functional engineering challenges and dependencies.
• Partner with Scrum Masters and Product Owners in backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, reviews, release planning, and roadmap execution.
• Monitor progress using Jira dashboards, Agile metrics, and dependency tracking.
• Integrate COTS infrastructure technologies into secure enterprise environments compliant with NATO policies and engineering standards.
• Create infrastructure architectures, engineering designs, implementation strategies, technical standards, documentation, and reference architectures.
• Engage in Agile development activities, architecture reviews, governance, backlog prioritization, and technical collaboration.
• Mentor senior engineers and establish engineering standards, automation strategies, best practices, and technical governance.
• Provide technical oversight for infrastructure implementation, ensuring integrated delivery aligns with approved architecture and customer requirements.
• Support infrastructure modernization, technical planning, architecture strategy, customer interactions, and proposal development.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 10–15 years of pertinent experience, or a Master's degree with 8–12 years of relevant experience.
• Active NATO Secret clearance or higher.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure engineering teams, including platform, networking, cybersecurity, and data protection engineers.
• Experience working in secure or regulated environments with automated provisioning and DevOps tools.
• Extensive background in designing and implementing VMware-based private cloud and SDDC environments.
• Strong familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation, ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX.
• Significant experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of enterprise compute, virtualization, storage, networking, disaster recovery, cyber resilience, and infrastructure engineering principles.
• Proven experience integrating infrastructure with networking, firewall, backup and recovery, identity management, and cloud services.
• Experience in leading Agile engineering teams using Jira, including user stories, backlog management, sprint planning, roadmap management, dependency tracking, blocker resolution, and release planning.
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation and physical implementation methodologies, including deployment planning, system integration, technical validation, and customer acceptance.
• Knowledge of Agile, SAFe, or DevSecOps delivery frameworks.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, mentoring, and technical collaboration skills.
• Experience in supporting defense, government, or highly regulated development environments.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% to The Hague, Netherlands, and other NATO locations.
• VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, VCF, or equivalent are preferred.
• Familiarity with VMware Aria Suite, HCX, SRM, HPE/Dell enterprise compute, storage platforms, SAN technologies, hybrid cloud, and large-scale infrastructure modernization is preferred.
