Senior Certified Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough analysis of intricate clinical and demographic data to assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS codes.

• Execute coding for outpatient, surgical, and inpatient encounters effectively.

• Assign and validate MS-DRGs and/or APCs accurately.

• Ensure proper capture of severity of illness and risk of mortality.

• Examine complex documentation, perform queries, and address discrepancies along with intricate coding edits.

• Handle multiple work queues while upholding coding accuracy and productivity.

• Offer mentorship and guidance to coding personnel.

• Work collaboratively with CDI and providers to synchronize documentation and coding.

• Resolve complicated documentation and coding challenges.

• Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements to boost coding accuracy and productivity.

• Ensure coding results align with reimbursement, reporting, and compliance requirements.

• Implement updated coding practices to enhance consistency and overall performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of coding experience.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• One of the following certifications: AHIMA-RHIA, AHIMA-RHIT, AHIMA-CCS, AAPC-CPC, AAPC-CIC, or AAPC-COC.

• Proficient in applying ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS coding across various settings including outpatient, surgical, and inpatient encounters.

• Ability to utilize coding guidelines along with DRG and/or APC logic.

• Capable of reviewing complex documentation and resolving both routine and advanced coding edits.

• Skilled in managing multiple work queues effectively.

• Independently capable of interpreting clinical documentation.

• Maintain a high level of coding accuracy and consistency.
