
Senior Catalog Strategist, Taxonomist β Contract-to-Hire

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Take ownership and enhance the global product taxonomy, category structure, and catalog data framework.
β’ Oversee catalog resources such as the style guide, training materials, glossary, and design review documentation.
β’ Manage catalog attributes, values, naming conventions, and uphold data-quality standards.
β’ Conduct interviews with category managers and subject-matter experts to outline optimal category conditions and grasp platform limitations.
β’ Facilitate design reviews and offer constructive feedback to category managers and analysts.
β’ Enhance the merchandising team's catalog and taxonomy skills.
β’ Standardize sourcing and provenance details, which include manufacturer, brand, and product line.
β’ Establish the strategic vision for catalog data management, quality assurance, and governance.
β’ Collaborate with R&D to define, validate, prioritize, and implement enhancements to catalog functionalities.
β’ Work alongside the clinical division to introduce new categories that support clinical use cases.
β’ Promote AI-assisted catalog tools and formalize repeatable workflows.
β’ Extensive knowledge in taxonomy, information architecture, and metadata or attribute modeling, preferably for a large and complex product catalog.
β’ Practical experience in managing catalog or product information management (PIM) systems and establishing data-quality standards.
β’ Proven ability to translate ambiguous catalog challenges into clear requirements and to justify and prioritize enhancement initiatives based on business impact.
β’ Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration and comfort in serving as the in-house expert on catalog structure.
β’ A systems-thinking approach with a preference for sustainable processes, thorough documentation, and effective tools.
β’ Enthusiasm for developing a merchandising team that is in the early stages of building these competencies.
β’ Willingness to take on direct or dotted-line management as the function evolves.
β’ Experience in the healthcare, DME, or medical supplies sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
β’ Familiarity with or experience in semantic web standards such as OWL and SKOS is a plus.
