Senior Business Product Owner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and manage a single, prioritized Product Backlog that aligns with business goals, customer requirements, and value drivers.

• Convert business challenges, opportunities, and desired outcomes into well-defined features and user stories complete with acceptance criteria.

• Continually refine and reorder backlog items based on value, risk, dependencies, and the fixed capacity of the Pod.

• Make transparent and timely trade-off decisions to optimize the delivery of business value within the team's capacity.

• Establish and communicate clear business objectives and success metrics for backlog items and releases.

• Collaborate with the Pod to deliver work incrementally, facilitating early validation of value and prompt feedback.

• Assess delivered outcomes against anticipated benefits, operational enhancements, or customer impact.

• Leverage insights from delivery metrics and stakeholder feedback to inform future prioritization and product strategy.

• Act as the primary point of contact for the business regarding product priorities, scope, and value-related decisions.

• Involve stakeholders through regular reviews, demonstrations, and feedback sessions.

• Balance the diverse needs of stakeholders using value-based prioritization instead of firm scope commitments.

• Ensure that expectations are in line with Pod capacity and delivery realities.

• Work closely with the Pod daily to clarify intentions, priorities, and acceptance criteria.

• Actively engage in Agile ceremonies and planning events to promote shared understanding.

• Enable the Pod to concentrate on delivery by providing clear priorities and quick decision-making.

• Cultivate a collaborative, outcome-focused working relationship based on trust and accountability.

• Maintain alignment of backlog priorities with broader product, portfolio, or value-stream strategies.

• Identify and proactively manage dependencies with other Pods, teams, or initiatives.

• Bring to light risks, constraints, and trade-offs to facilitate informed decision-making.

• Adjust priorities as circumstances evolve while ensuring delivery stability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience, or equivalent practical experience.

• 7+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree in a related field.

• Experience in developing a product for a financial organization in the medical device industry or a similar regulated sector.

• Proven track record as a Business Product Owner, Product Owner, or in a product-aligned position within an Agile setting.

• Strong capability to translate business needs into clear, prioritized backlogs.

• Excellent decision-making skills, with experience in balancing value, risk, and stakeholder expectations.

• Effective communication and collaboration abilities with business and technology stakeholders.

• Experience utilizing metrics and feedback to steer prioritization and foster continuous improvement.

• Familiarity with a product- or value-stream-aligned operational model.

• Understanding of Agile delivery in complex or regulated environments.

• Experience in supporting Transform, Grow, and Run initiatives within a single team.

• Comfortable collaborating across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
