Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Create advanced, highly optimized SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze intricate datasets.

• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to develop dbt models that incorporate modular, tested, and well-documented business and clinical logic.

• Engage in the transition from legacy cubes and spreadsheets to Snowflake cloud data warehouse environments.

• Take ownership of the complete design and delivery of executive-ready dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or Sigma.

• Establish audit and unit-testing processes to guarantee the accuracy of reports.

• Convert complex business and clinical inquiries into foundational data logic.

• Provide clear, plain-English logic flowcharts, data output samples, or dashboard wireframes for strategic enhancement.

• Effectively communicate technical data limitations to non-technical stakeholders and safeguard timelines against scope creep.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or intelligence reporting.

• Expert proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, and window functions across relational databases.

• Proven track record of creating intuitive, scalable dashboard suites; experience with Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma is highly preferred.

• Direct experience with Snowflake and dbt, or a strong willingness and ability to learn them quickly.

• Strong documentation skills, including the creation of data dictionaries and wikis.

• Comfortable navigating the Google Stack and utilizing Slack for communication.

• A tertiary degree or diploma in Statistics and Computer Sciences, Social Sciences/Humanities, Sociology, Health Sciences, Data Analytics, Science, Data Science, Finance, or Business Management.

• Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, and Tableau or Sigma.

• Capability to develop SSAS cubes in SQL Server, including Tabular models.

• Excellent understanding of SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

• Willingness to adapt to evolving data infrastructure and participate in peer reviews.

• A reliable backup power supply and strong, stable Wi-Fi for effective remote work.

• Flexibility to attend meetings outside standard local working hours on occasion.
