Senior Business Intelligence Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Recognize emerging patterns in financial and operational data; craft clear narratives and recommendations for the CFO and senior leadership that link data trends to business decisions.

• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, and distribution leadership to analyze operational challenges, test assumptions, and offer data-driven advice that shapes business strategy.

• Examine written premium trends and shifts in mix across direct channels, price comparison aggregators, and independent agency channels to guide distribution strategy.

• Act as a key business partner to pricing, claims, and marketing leadership; convert operational data into financial implications.

• Utilize data querying and analytical tools to conduct tailored research into underperforming KPIs.

• Perform other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree.

• 3–5 years of analytical experience within a Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance carrier, Managing General Agent (MGA), or insurance-focused public accounting/consulting firm.

• Proficiency in P&C insurance financial and operational KPIs; capability to interpret combined ratio elements, loss trends, and channel economics independently of actuarial or accounting support.

• Proven track record in creating management reports and dashboards from raw data with minimal oversight.

• Strong Excel modeling abilities.

• Competence in conveying financial insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders, including underwriting and claims leadership.

• Proficient in SQL; capable of independently querying relational databases, merging multiple data sources, and constructing datasets for analysis without relying on IT or a data team.
