
Senior Business Analyst – Sponsored Programs, Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee a diverse portfolio of sponsored programs from initiation to completion.
• Conduct in-depth budget performance and accounts receivable analysis, investigate discrepancies, and formulate corrective action plans.
• Evaluate, authorize, and prepare financial transactions in accordance with award terms, GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and institutional policies.
• Facilitate financial performance meetings with investigators, directors, cost center managers, and business partners.
• Supervise subawards and contracted service agreements, assist with rebudgeting and no-cost extensions, manage personnel cost allocations, cost transfers, cost sharing, and cost overruns.
• Ensure adherence to grant, contract, clinical trial, sponsor, federal, state, local, and private-agency requirements.
• Handle invoicing, payment follow-ups, cash recording, sponsor portals, payment profiles, invoices, and payment documentation.
• Direct month-end closing activities, prepare intricate journal entries, and support the generation of monthly financial statements and reports.
• Create, analyze, and present detailed financial reports, ad hoc reports, and analyses.
• Establish new projects in financial systems, including cost-reimbursement, fixed-price, milestone-based, and cost-share initiatives.
• Complete project closeout documentation, reconcile costs and payments, and finalize project cost centers.
• Implement regulations and internal controls, and lead the collection of audit documentation.
• Mentor and train junior Business Analysts.
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures and process enhancements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or relevant experience and/or education in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience in relevant finance or accounting positions.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, budget planning, and financial analysis.
• Previous experience in financial administration concerning grants, contracts, and clinical trials.
• Familiarity with federal agency regulations, policies, procedures, Uniform Guidance, laws, and federal acquisition regulations applicable to research and sponsored programs.
• Extensive knowledge of financial management in a clinical trials environment.
• Proficiency in research accounting, compliance, and auditing.
• Capability to assess, investigate, and resolve intricate financial and compliance issues using sound judgment.
• Exceptional organizational and mathematical abilities, with a talent for analyzing data and drawing conclusions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to lead financial meetings and articulate financial information.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet stringent deadlines.
• Advanced proficiency in financial software and adaptability to new technologies.
• Expert knowledge of financial processes and controls, including reconciliations.
• Advanced MS Excel skills, including sorting, pivot tables, filtering, VLOOKUPs, subtotals, and basic formulas.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations, procedures, and compliance standards.
• Capacity to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Experience in mentoring junior staff.
• Compliance with HIPAA, company privacy and information security policies, Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, regulations, and training requirements.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Preferred: Previous experience in clinical trial financial management and/or clinical research billing compliance and regulations.
• Remote work / work from home.
• Base pay range of $31.02–$48.54 per hour.
