
Senior Bookkeeper – AU Accounting Firm SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Oversee complete bookkeeping processes for Australian small business clients spanning various industries.
• Conduct bank reconciliations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Accurately and timely manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist in the preparation of BAS in accordance with ATO requirements (where experienced).
• Process payroll for clients as needed (highly valued).
• Maintain precise financial records using cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, and/or QuickBooks Online.
• Ensure that all transactions are appropriately coded, categorized, and reconciled.
• Prepare and provide support for monthly financial reporting for internal assessment.
• Communicate promptly with the internal team when clarification on client transactions or records is necessary.
• Keep client files organized, clean, and audit-ready at all times.
• Proactively identify and report issues, discrepancies, or delays without requiring follow-up.
• A minimum of 3–5 years of practical bookkeeping experience, ideally with Australian clients.
• Proficiency in Xero is essential.
• Strong preference for proficiency in MYOB and/or QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Advanced skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, Australian GST, and relevant compliance requirements.
• Experience working with Australian small business clients in diverse industries.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in all financial records.
• Capability to manage multiple clients and tasks concurrently without constant supervision.
• Strong time management abilities and a proven history of meeting deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience with BAS preparation and knowledge of ATO reporting obligations (nice to have).
• Familiarity with payroll processing under Australian regulations (nice to have).
• Experience with cloud accounting integrations and add-on tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc, Receipt Bank) (nice to have).
• Background working in an Australian accounting or bookkeeping firm serving multiple SME clients (nice to have).
• Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field (advantageous but not mandatory).
