Senior Blockchain Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Smart Contract System Design: Design and architect comprehensive smart contract systems for Ondo's dynamic product range — encompassing new chain deployments, innovative DeFi interoperability and bridging solutions, as well as DeFi protocols — ensuring security, operability, and long-term maintainability are integrated from the outset.

• Lifecycle Security & Operations: Take ownership of contract security not only at deployment but throughout the entire lifespan of the system — this includes upgrade safety, administrative controls, and the operational guardrails that maintain safety as the system evolves.

• Tooling & Automation: Develop tools and automated systems that empower non-technical colleagues to safely view, monitor, and manage contracts without the need to write scripts or engage with raw chain operations directly.

• Cross-Functional Integration: Link smart contract design with the broader product ecosystem — assisting the web team with seamless integration, enabling operational teams to monitor and manage without direct scripting, and ensuring design choices are effectively communicated to end users.

• Technical Leadership: Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for blockchain initiatives, guiding the engineering team towards impactful, scalable solutions while making informed technical decisions that align with long-term objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Located in PT, MT, CT, or ET time zones.

• Exceptional technical and non-technical communication abilities, both verbal and written.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.

• More than 3 years in blockchain engineering, preferably within another DeFi protocol operational on multiple chains.

• Proficient in Solidity; familiarity with non-EVM smart contract languages, especially Solana, is advantageous.

• Proven capability to design comprehensive systems, not merely contracts — covering tooling, automation, lifecycle security, and the integration points among contracts, applications, and operational teams.

• Track record of successfully building and scaling a DeFi protocol.

• Experience with Python and/or TypeScript is preferred (for tooling and automation development).

• Strong technical insight and excellent judgment in task prioritization.

• Emphasis on understanding the underlying reasons behind requirements and a commitment to defining the minimum necessary scope.
