Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, integration, and practical implementation of enterprise backup, recovery, and cyber resilience solutions that enhance VMware private cloud SDDC modernization efforts.

• Direct the implementation and integration of Rubrik Security Cloud-Private data protection solutions for critical workloads and services.

• Create secure and resilient data protection strategies that support ECS, CPS, IaaS, and SMC.

• Collaborate closely with teams specializing in infrastructure, virtualization, storage, cybersecurity, and DevOps engineering.

• Develop automation for backup provisioning, policy management, recovery workflows, and configuration management processes.

• Design and validate capabilities for disaster recovery, cyber recovery, backup restoration, and business continuity.

• Establish and maintain backup architectures, engineering designs, implementation strategies, recovery procedures, configuration standards, and technical documentation.

• Engage in Agile activities such as sprint planning, technical reviews, engineering design assessments, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Mentor customer engineers and offer technical guidance on backup, cyber resilience, secure data protection, and recovery best practices.

• Travel to NATO sites for the installation, configuration, integration, validation, testing, and troubleshooting of enterprise backup and recovery solutions.

• Assist in infrastructure modernization, technical planning, cyber resilience strategy, and proposal development efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field with 8–12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience.

• Active NATO Secret clearance or a higher level of security clearance.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.

• Proficient in Rubrik Security Cloud-Private, including deployment, configuration, integration, backup policy management, and recovery operations.

• Experience in designing and integrating backup and recovery solutions within VMware-based private cloud and virtualized settings.

• Strong grasp of disaster recovery, cyber resilience, immutable backup, ransomware protection, and business continuity principles.

• Experienced in integrating backup solutions with enterprise storage, virtualization, cloud, and infrastructure platforms.

• Skilled in implementing automation through scripting, APIs, PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of enterprise infrastructure, storage, virtualization, networking, and enterprise cybersecurity practices.

• Experienced in operating within Agile, SAFe, or DevSecOps delivery frameworks.

• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical collaboration skills.

• Experience in supporting defense, government, or highly regulated development environments.
