Senior Backend Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the end-to-end delivery for major backend platform components, guiding work from design to production while adhering to established architectural guidelines.

• Lead the implementation of specific domains such as integrations, messaging infrastructure, data ingestion, or core platform services.

• Make daily technical decisions in your domain regarding data modeling, API design, error handling, and operational issues, collaborating with the Staff Engineer and tech leads on wider architectural decisions.

• Work closely with AI Engineering and Product teams to convert evolving requirements into dependable, thoroughly tested software.

• Enhance reliability, performance, and observability within the systems you manage; address production issues and spearhead the resolution process.

• Guide mid-level and junior engineers on your team through code reviews, collaborative work, and design feedback, elevating the engineering standards within the team.

• Participate in platform-wide design discussions and help shape the operational standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, particularly emphasizing backend platforms, integrations, or data infrastructure.

• Proven history of owning and successfully delivering significant backend features or components in production, from initial design to operational status.

• Demonstrated experience in deploying and managing production backend systems at scale.

• Strong expertise in Python, with production experience using FastAPI, Celery, and similar asynchronous/queue-based frameworks.

• Extensive experience with Postgres, including schema design, query optimization, and managing Postgres in a production environment.

• Familiarity with handling large datasets and addressing real-world data quality challenges across diverse source systems.

• Experience in designing and managing integrations with third-party SaaS solutions, including dealing with rate limits, schema changes, and partial failures.

• Solid understanding of modern cloud-based architectures, especially AWS.

• Regular use of contemporary AI coding tools (such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or similar) as part of your development process.
