Senior Backend Engineer, TypeScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage backend services and REST APIs using TypeScript/Node.js.

• Integrate and oversee connections to POS, customer, and partner systems.

• Technically implement rule-based validations and approval/exception workflows.

• Contribute to the architectural framework: clarify requirements, assess options, and make trade-offs.

• Enforce security, data protection, and traceability through authentication, encryption, and audit logs.

• Guarantee performance, scalability, and stability in a production environment.

• Write comprehensive tests — from unit to integration and end-to-end testing.

• Enhance observability: implement logging, monitoring, and alerting for your endpoints and the overall software.

• Collaborate closely with the Platform team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of experience as a senior backend engineer, preferably with TypeScript/Node.js.

• Proficient in designing and managing REST APIs and integrating external interfaces.

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, along with clean data models and auditing capabilities.

• Deep understanding of complex rule-based business logic and workflows.

• Security-focused mindset: familiarity with OAuth2/JWT, authorization principles, and secure data flows.

• Balanced approach between code quality and timely delivery, with a passion for architectural discussions.

• Proactive in handling ambiguous requirements: ask questions, organize, and challenge the business.

• Fluent in German with a good command of English.

• Experience in regulated environments is advantageous.
