Senior Backend Engineer – Personalization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and deploy backend services that enhance LLM-based music fulfillment experiences, providing users with greater adaptive control over their listening preferences.

• Create and sustain the APIs and distributed systems that facilitate prompted playlist experiences, session generation, and agentic music applications.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including user research, design, data science, product, and ML engineering, to innovate new product features that connect artists and fans in personalized and meaningful ways.

• Serve as a technical leader and esteemed contributor within an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.

• Prototype innovative approaches and implement scalable solutions for hundreds of millions of active users.

• Contribute to the broader Spotify backend developer community, influencing and shaping architecture across the organization.

• Advocate for best practices in backend system design, testing, and deployment throughout the company.

• You have a background in creating distributed, high-volume services and are knowledgeable about deploying and maintaining them in production.

• You have a profound comprehension of system design, data structures, and algorithms.

• You are adept at working with LLM-based systems and constructing the backend infrastructure that supports them.

• You have experience utilizing large-scale distributed data processing tools such as Apache Beam or Apache Spark.

• You have worked with cloud platforms like GCP or AWS.

• You enjoy operating in an environment where experimentation and rapid iteration are encouraged.
