Senior Backend Engineer – International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Create and develop highly scalable systems that facilitate millions of transactions across various countries and regulatory landscapes.

• Build operational tools that enhance the efficiency of international marketplace operations.

• Collaborate with internal logistics, payments, and platform teams to establish robust long-term infrastructure.

• Example initiatives involve developing VAT tools and tax infrastructure for sellers in EU and UK markets.

• Design cross-border shipping solutions and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) experiences that empower international trade.

• Construct systems that address market-specific needs, including Right of Withdrawal, refund automation, and regulatory adherence.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Strong backend engineering expertise in distributed systems or large-scale platforms.

• Proven experience in designing, operating, and scaling reliable production services.

• High proficiency in one or more contemporary backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Kotlin).

• Familiarity with relational databases and event-driven architectures.

• Capability to lead projects autonomously from vague problem definitions to production deployment.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders.

• Preferred: Background in payments, fintech, e-commerce, logistics, marketplace platforms, or compliance systems.

• Experience in developing operational platforms, workflow systems, or transaction processing infrastructure.

• Experience in fast-paced product organizations.
