Senior Backend Engineer, Elixir/Phoenix

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Creating and implementing scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations.

• Working closely with Backend, Frontend, SRE, and QA teams in a remote-first setting.

• Engaging in high-impact projects and influencing the development of a contemporary engineering platform.

• Building secure, dependable, and scalable backend services while promoting engineering best practices.

• Providing mentorship to engineers and being involved in architectural decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Backend Engineer delivering production-quality distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of Elixir and the Phoenix Framework.

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems.

• Proven track record in designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available backend architectures.

• Practical experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or comparable solutions.

• Hands-on experience in developing or implementing automation and AI-driven workflows, including iterative optimization.

• Strong grasp of software engineering principles, system design, and architecture.

• Capability to define technical specifications, decompose complex issues, implement verification methods, and ensure the quality of solutions.

• Experience in developing APIs and backend integrations.

• Familiarity with collaborative development practices such as code reviews and mentorship.

• Professional proficiency in English.
