Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable backend services and APIs utilizing Golang microservices.

• Lead technical architecture initiatives and enhance long-term system integrity by foreseeing scaling and maintenance requirements.

• Collaborate effectively across product, design, and frontend teams to implement high-impact features.

• Engage in system design evaluations, suggest and execute robust solutions, and contribute to Weave’s overarching engineering strategy.

• Take ownership of the quality, reliability, and observability of your code from the development phase to production.

• Assist in planning and executing projects from conception to delivery, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and focus on outcomes.

• Mentor colleagues and junior engineers by imparting knowledge and promoting best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of backend engineering experience with contemporary programming languages such as Golang, Java, Python, Ruby, or C# (preference for Golang or a willingness to learn).

• Proven experience in designing and creating RESTful APIs and backend services.

• Solid understanding of distributed systems and inter-service communication methods (e.g., protobufs/gRPC, ReST, Kafka, Redis).

• Experience with relational databases and proficiency in SQL.

• Willingness to be part of an on-call rotation with your team and assume responsibility for production systems.
