Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable backend services and APIs for payment processing and financial workflows.

• Engage in event-driven systems utilizing messaging and streaming technologies.

• Work in collaboration with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to provide effective, high-quality solutions.

• Assist with deployments, monitoring, and troubleshooting within cloud environments.

• Enhance system reliability, performance, and security.

• Take part in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and team discussions.

• Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions (for candidates with more experience).

• Investigate and implement new technologies and best practices that deliver value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building backend systems in a professional setting (Scala, Java, or similar languages).

• Strong grasp of software design principles, APIs, and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Knowledge of SQL and database design (experience with RDBMS; NoSQL is a bonus).

• Interest or experience in event-driven architecture (such as Kafka or similar technologies).

• Competence in debugging and enhancing production systems.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a practical approach.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

• Professional proficiency in English.

• Experience in designing and managing large-scale, high-availability systems.

• Capability to lead technical design efforts and mentor fellow engineers.

• Experience in making architectural trade-offs and driving innovative solutions.

• Proven experience in utilizing AI tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance decision-making, or foster innovation.
