Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain our backend systems.

• Supervise the development and upkeep of our GraphQL API.

• Oversee deployments within a Kubernetes environment on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• Ensure the reliability and scalability of our applications.

• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and QA to deliver high-quality features.

• Promote effective communication and collaboration within the team.

• Proactively brainstorm and implement product enhancements based on business and user requirements.

• Cultivate an inclusive workplace by collaborating effectively with team members from diverse cultural backgrounds.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend engineering.

• Excellent written and verbal English skills (C1+).

• Proficient in Ruby; familiarity with functional programming patterns is a significant advantage.

• Advanced knowledge of SQL / PostgreSQL.

• Experience in developing GraphQL APIs.

• Comfortable with DevOps concepts, including deployments, Kubernetes, and GCP.

• Regular use of AI tools (such as Claude, Cursor, etc.) in daily development tasks.

• A product-minded individual who is proactive and capable of working across cultures.

• Familiarity with Roda, Sequel, or dry-rb is a strong advantage.

• Experience in e-commerce, creator economy, or marketplace products is a strong plus.
