Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design and take ownership of backend systems that manage high-throughput, asynchronous tasks (such as generation queues, worker orchestration, and media processing).

• Architect solutions for scalability and reliability — you will determine data flow, service boundaries, and methods for handling failures.

• Develop and enhance asynchronous pipelines: including job queuing, retries, backpressure, dead-letter management, and all components that ensure millions of requests are processed smoothly.

• Enhance performance and control costs at the infrastructure level — as inference can be costly, efficiency is a key product feature.

• Establish technical direction and elevate the engineering standards for the team through reviews and mentorship.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive backend experience (5+ years) with genuine ownership of production systems operating at scale.

• Demonstrated system design capabilities — you can articulate your architectural choices through trade-offs rather than jargon.

• Practical experience with asynchronous pipelines, message queues (such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or similar), and distributed worker systems.

• Proficiency in environments characterized by high concurrency and high throughput.

• Capability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, low-process, bootstrapped setting.

• Familiarity with Go (or a willingness to learn it — as we primarily utilize Go for our backend).

• Exposure to ML/AI infrastructure, GPU workloads, or media processing pipelines.

• Proven track record of contributing to open source projects (we value GitHub activity).
