This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Design, develop, and maintain efficient, scalable, and clean backend services utilizing Node.js and TypeScript.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and frontend engineers to create new product features from ideation to deployment.
• Take ownership of significant components of the backend architecture, making essential decisions to improve performance, reliability, and security.
• Create thorough unit tests and perform detailed code reviews to ensure high code quality.
• Identify and implement system enhancements proactively, including refactoring legacy code as needed.
• Provide mentorship and share engineering knowledge with team members.
• Integrate AI into daily operations and explore ways to enhance engineering workflows through AI.
• Contribute to the checkout experience, donor portals, and analytics pipelines within a high-load distributed system.
• Over 7 years of backend development experience, ideally in a product-focused environment.
• Strong practical experience with Node.js and modern frameworks such as Koa or NestJS.
• Profound knowledge of TypeScript, including advanced typing and module systems.
• Solid background in MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Bull/Redis.
• Practical experience with ClickHouse or similar analytics databases and Elasticsearch.
• Comprehensive understanding of system design, clean architecture principles, and performance optimization techniques.
• Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and complete projects successfully.
• Comfortable collaborating within a Russian-speaking team.
• Actively utilizing AI in daily tasks.
• Nice to have: experience in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.
• Nice to have: knowledge of performance monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
