Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Design and create backend APIs that support UI and platform functionalities utilizing Python and/or Node.js.

• Develop APIs that facilitate campaign management, configuration, reporting, and platform operations.

• Create and maintain Java-based Real-Time Bidding (RTB) and Ad Exchange services.

• Engage in high-throughput, low-latency real-time processing of advertising requests and responses.

• Develop and sustain Python-based services/scripts for advertising reporting and data processing.

• Work with event and reporting pipelines, integrating Kafka, databases, and cloud storage solutions.

• Diagnose and optimize production services, database queries, and data pipelines.

• Take part in architecture discussions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities.

• Collaborate with UI, SDK, DevOps, QA, and various engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in backend development using Python and/or Node.js.

• Familiarity with Java and capability to contribute to an existing Java codebase.

• Knowledge of Scala is a plus.

• Proven experience in designing and developing REST APIs.

• Strong background in SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with Kafka or comparable event-streaming technologies.

• Proven experience with distributed and scalable backend systems.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.

• Excellent debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting skills in production environments.

• Over 3 years of experience in AdTech/programmatic advertising, with an understanding of RTB, OpenRTB, DSPs, SSPs, Ad Exchanges, bidders, impressions, clicks, and advertising reporting.

• Experience in building high-query-per-second, low-latency systems.

• Familiarity with large-scale event processing and reporting pipelines.

• Experience with Docker/containerized deployment and monitoring.

• Preferred 5+ years of backend/software engineering experience.

• Ability to independently comprehend existing systems and take ownership of API development, RTB/Ad Exchange services, and reporting/data pipelines.
