Senior Backend Engineer, Admin Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage backend services and APIs focused on user access, account hierarchies, settings, and administrative workflows.

• Take ownership of features from their design and implementation stages through testing, secure rollout, observability, and production support.

• Implement secure authorization and data modeling practices for customer and parent-child account relationships.

• Analyze production issues and enhance service reliability, performance, and observability.

• Create and review maintainable code, automated tests, design documentation, runbooks, and support guidelines.

• Collaborate with Product, frontend engineers, and related platform teams to create seamless customer workflows.

• Provide mentorship to colleagues through design discussions, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving sessions.

• Up to 5% travel may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience in developing production software using a modern programming language.

• Proficiency in designing and managing backend services and APIs, guiding complex projects from design to production.

• Strong background in SQL and relational databases, including data modeling and troubleshooting or enhancing queries.

• Experience in building services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Familiarity with Docker or similar containerized applications.

• Proven emphasis on testing, production reliability, observability, and effective technical communication.

• Capability to manage complex tasks from start to finish, prioritize competing demands, and communicate risks and trade-offs early.

• A customer- and security-focused approach to administration and access workflows.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a keen attention to detail.

• Strong technical writing skills and effective collaboration with Product and engineering teams.

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, RBAC, SSO, audit logs, delegated administration, or account hierarchy models is a plus.

• Familiarity with Python or Go, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes is advantageous.

• Knowledge of feature flags, metrics, tracing, alerting, Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry is beneficial.

• Experience in cybersecurity or developing customer-facing platform functionalities is advantageous.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
