Senior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop efficient, readable, maintainable, and testable code utilizing Kotlin, Java, and various server-side languages and frameworks.

• Generate unit tests, and occasionally perform integration and performance testing.

• Conduct code reviews for your colleagues.

• Tackle complex challenges with a strong focus on user experience, security, and performance.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, software developers, QA engineers, and technical writers to create and sustain top-notch Atlassian plugins utilized by thousands in prominent companies worldwide.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in server-side development of commercial web applications using Java and/or Kotlin.

• Familiarity with Typescript and the React ecosystem is a significant advantage.

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Proficient knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals, including big-O notation, basic data structures, and algorithms.

• Expertise in API design.

• Experience in building highly scalable distributed systems.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and AWS.

• Experience with SQL queries and database optimization, along with knowledge of NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB or AWS DynamoDB.

• Ability to articulate thoughts clearly, including the rationale behind technical decisions.

• Upper-intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English.

• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in a multicultural setting.

• Capability to work independently and remotely without extensive oversight or micromanagement, and to begin tasks without comprehensive technical specifications.

• Willingness to learn and engage in productive discussions on unfamiliar topics.

• Ability to collaborate with team members to develop technical specifications.

• Experience with performance optimization is considered an asset.
