Senior Backend – Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Design and develop sophisticated PostgreSQL schemas with row-level security (RLS) tailored for multi-tenant applications.

• Create and uphold backend services that are async-heavy using Python frameworks (e.g., FastAPI) while incorporating Pydantic validation.

• Engineer scalable data pipelines and manage intricate multi-stage data processing workflows.

• Establish and implement data isolation strategies in shared database settings.

• Design and oversee complex data workflows, including additive data changes, diff detection, and selective re-processing.

• Draft and maintain OpenAPI contracts that act as development specifications for cross-functional teams.

• Work closely with AI/LLM Leads on output validation, deterministic data integration, and ensuring system reliability.

• Develop code that is efficient, testable, scalable, and secure.

• Provide precise status tracking, reporting, and estimation.

• Collaborate with other engineers and product leadership to grasp requirements.

• Take responsibility for the technical design through to successful delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with Python as the primary backend language.

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL and database architecture, including RLS, multi-tenancy, and schema design.

• Experience with FastAPI or a similar async Python framework.

• Background in orchestrating data pipelines, ETL processes, and async processing.

• At least 5 years of overall software engineering experience, with practical involvement in both backend and data engineering.

• Experience in developing software systems of medium to large scope and complexity.

• Familiarity with contract-first or API-first development, including knowledge of OpenAPI, REST API contracts, or equivalent.

• Understanding of Agile software development practices.

• Strong skills in relational databases and SQL.

• Proficient in English communication.
