Senior Back-End Developer, Shopify

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Create and launch production-ready extensions for the complete checkout experience.

• Develop custom backend functionalities for Delivery Customizations, Discount calculations, Cart Transformations, and Payment Customizations to enhance margins and improve customer satisfaction.

• Master the GraphQL Branding API to maintain a cohesive, high-quality brand image throughout the secure checkout process.

• Design, deliver, and uphold a range of private/custom Shopify applications utilizing Node.js, React, and Remix.

• Carry out intricate data operations utilizing the GraphQL Admin and Storefront APIs.

• Construct reliable and scalable webhook handlers to oversee real-time event-driven logic across various stores.

• Maintain and enhance Shopify themes in accordance with Online Store 2.0 standards and Liquid.

• Create reusable UI components (App Blocks) that enable the integration of custom app logic into themes without requiring manual code alterations.

• Collaborate closely with the UX/UI and marketing teams to transform high-fidelity designs into functional, high-converting elements.

• Implement technical SEO best practices and ensure proper tracking integration.

• Regularly review the Shopify store ecosystem to pinpoint and eliminate unnecessary third-party applications.

• Manage extensive data integrations with external marketing and support platforms through APIs.

• Spearhead performance engineering initiatives to achieve scores above 90 on Core Web Vitals and perform thorough cross-browser/device testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years of experience in web development, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to advanced Shopify architecture.

• Proven experience in Checkout: successfully launched live Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions in a production setting.

• Extensive hands-on experience in building and managing multiple Shopify Apps using the CLI.

• Expert-level proficiency in Remix, React, and Node.js, particularly related to Shopify app and backend development.

• Capability to conduct a 'Code Walkthrough' of your custom applications, detailing logic, security, and scalability during the interview process.

• Prepared to undertake a practical assessment to evaluate coding and technical abilities.

• Openness to adapt to foreign time zone changes and work night shifts.

• Must possess a personal laptop or desktop computer, headphones, and a reliable Internet connection for voice and video communications.

• Must have a quiet, distraction-free home working environment.
