Senior Automation Engineer – Dynatrace

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Evaluate historical ticket data and operational metrics to uncover high-frequency, repetitive operational challenges.

• Identify automation possibilities based on factors such as frequency, complexity, repeatability, risk, and business impact.

• Create a backlog of automation opportunities and assess potential reductions in effort and operational toil.

• Decide whether use cases are best suited for rules, scripts, workflow automation, AI-driven recommendations, or agentic automation.

• Utilize Dynatrace telemetry, events, issues, and service dependencies to discover AIOps-related investigation and remediation prospects.

• Develop automation scripts and workflows using Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, and existing client solutions.

• Establish integrations between Dynatrace and client systems such as ServiceNow, cloud platforms, CI/CD, monitoring, and collaboration tools.

• Design and execute human-gated remediation processes for production operations.

• Implement recovery validation that encompasses technical health, service/SLO health, and business transaction verification.

• Create reusable automation components and runbooks instead of singular scripts.

• Assist with AIOps use cases, including event correlation, incident enrichment, probable cause analysis, recommendations, and controlled remediation.

• Measure the results of automation, focusing on toil reduction, automation coverage, MTTR improvement, and reduction of recurring incidents.

• Collaborate closely with SRE/AIOps architects and operations teams to transform opportunities into PDP2 Thin MVP use cases and production-ready automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in IT Operations, SRE, DevOps, AIOps, or Automation Engineering.

• More than 3 years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace, encompassing APM, infrastructure monitoring, logs, synthetics, events/problems, dashboards, and APIs.

• Strong proficiency in operational automation and toil reduction using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.

• Demonstrated experience in analyzing Incident/Service Request/Problem ticket data to identify repetitive operational tasks and automation opportunities.

• Proven ability to convert identified opportunities into automation scripts, workflows, runbooks, and API-based integrations.

• Practical experience in integrating monitoring events with automation/remediation workflows.

• Familiarity with ServiceNow or another ITSM platform.

• Experience in building automation solutions that include validation, error handling, logging, rollback, and audit controls.

• Capacity to work directly with operations/SME teams to comprehend troubleshooting and remediation processes.

• Experience with Dynatrace Workflows / Automation Engineer and Dynatrace APIs.

• Proficient in Dynatrace Intelligence / Davis AI.

• Knowledge of ServiceNow Incident/Problem/Change integration and REST APIs.

• Familiarity with AWS/Azure infrastructure and cloud automation.

• Experience in Kubernetes/EKS and containerized application environments.

• Knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, or similar infrastructure automation tools.

• Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Harness.

• Familiarity with Splunk, CloudWatch, or other observability/monitoring platforms.

• Knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures.

• Experience with Slack/Microsoft Teams operational integrations.

• Familiarity with AI/GenAI, LLM, RAG, or AI-agent based IT operations.

• Understanding of SLI/SLO, error budgets, and SRE practices.

• Experience in developing automation business cases and ROI/toil-reduction assessments.
