Senior Astrodynamics Engineer

📋 Description

• As a senior member of the Astrodynamics team, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Slingshot’s initiatives to enhance space operations intelligence and automation, while ensuring the security, safety, and sustainability of space.

• This position entails leading the development of sophisticated astrodynamics, orbit determination, including multi-sensor, multi-object, and multi-phenomenology data fusion, as well as satellite and constellation mission optimization.

• You will also contribute to the creation of physics and AI/ML-based algorithms and software for analytics and insights.

• In this capacity, you will serve as the subject matter expert, sharing your knowledge and expertise with both internal and external stakeholders, guiding research and development projects, mentoring fellow team members, and supporting product demonstrations, business development, bid and proposal processes, and outreach activities.

• In this role, you will facilitate the development and delivery of solutions across Slingshot’s core functions: Sense, Fuse, Decide, Act.


⛳️ Requirements

• Ph.D. (or MS + 8 years of experience) in astrodynamics or aerospace engineering fields, with a focus on orbit determination, spacecraft navigation, dynamic systems modeling and simulation, space weather/environment modeling, mission planning and optimization, remote sensing, high-performance computing, or space operations.

• Proven expertise in algorithm development and implementation in a recognized programming language (e.g., Python, Java/Kotlin, C/C++).

• Capability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams in a dynamic, fast-paced operational environment that includes military, government, and industry partners.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Persistent drive to tackle challenges and deliver high-quality solutions.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

• Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for and capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance.
