This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the lead relationship manager for a designated portfolio of debt and equity investments across specific LFM-managed funds.
• Establish and nurture proactive relationships with borrowers, acting as the main point of contact throughout the investment lifecycle.
• Assess borrower performance by analyzing financial statements, operating results, property cash flows, rent rolls, budgets, and other portfolio reporting.
• Evaluate ongoing portfolio performance against initial underwriting assumptions and investment forecasts, identifying significant variances, emerging risks, and opportunities for timely intervention.
• Review loan documents to confirm borrower adherence to loan covenants, reporting obligations, insurance, taxes, maturity dates, and other credit conditions.
• Validate loan balances, accrued interest, servicing activities, and other financial details to ensure portfolio accuracy.
• Analyze servicing reports and payment activities to detect delinquencies, payment trends, and servicing inconsistencies.
• Maintain regular communication with borrowers to gain insights into project performance, address operational challenges, and facilitate successful loan outcomes.
• Engage in post-closing loan transitions to guarantee the accurate transfer of underwriting assumptions and ongoing monitoring obligations.
• Conduct periodic site visits and annual portfolio assessments to review property performance, enhance borrower relationships, and identify risks not apparent through financial reporting.
• Prepare portfolio analyses, loan summaries, impairment assessments, and asset performance reports for management review.
• Create and update Excel-based portfolio risk ratings using established qualitative and quantitative assessment frameworks.
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date portfolio data across asset management systems, reporting tools, and portfolio trackers.
• Facilitate the preparation of portfolio analyses and reporting materials that support Fund Management oversight and investment decision-making.
• Monitor and communicate portfolio financial and impact metrics in accordance with fund reporting standards and established timelines.
• Assist in audits by maintaining precise, complete, and audit-ready portfolio documentation.
• Promote standardized documentation practices and continuous enhancement of portfolio reporting and data integrity.
• Act as the primary asset manager for designated watchlist, non-performing, and defaulted loans.
• Identify emerging portfolio risks and formulate mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Director of Asset Management.
• Structure, negotiate, and manage loan modifications, amendments, extensions, forbearance agreements, and workout strategies.
• Collaborate with Construction Management, Legal, Loan Administration, and Servicing to address complex credit, construction, and portfolio challenges.
• Assist in foreclosure, collateral enforcement, and other resolution strategies as necessary.
• Work closely with Underwriting, Construction Management, Loan Administration, Fund Management, Legal, and Servicing to support effective portfolio management throughout the investment lifecycle.
• Review non-construction disbursement requests for compliance with approved budgets, loan documents, and fund requirements.
• Provide portfolio updates, borrower developments, and asset performance analyses during internal portfolio, risk, and fund review meetings.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Asset Managers and Asset Management Analysts when appropriate.
• Contribute to process enhancements, portfolio standards, and the adoption of asset management best practices to strengthen LFM's portfolio management capabilities.
• This position is anticipated to require travel less than once per month, totaling up to 15% annually.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least 6 years of experience in loan asset management, including a minimum of 2 years in non-consumer or commercial lending.
• Experience managing debt and equity investments within real estate funds.
• Proven experience in analyzing commercial real estate financial statements, property operating performance, and borrower cash flows.
• Experience overseeing commercial loan portfolios throughout the investment lifecycle, including ongoing borrower communication and portfolio monitoring.
• Familiarity with watchlist assets, workouts, foreclosures, or specialized asset management.
• Experience in reviewing loan documentation and ensuring compliance with loan agreements and credit requirements.
• Background in commercial loan restructurings, amendments, extensions, or modifications.
• Strong financial analysis capabilities, including experience in validating loan balances, accrued interest, and servicing activities.
• Knowledge of affordable housing finance and tax credit programs, including LIHTC, NMTC, or HTC.
• Preferred experience in community development finance, CDFIs, or other mission-driven lending organizations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Smartsheet and portfolio management systems is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling the establishment of productive borrower relationships and the presentation of portfolio recommendations to leadership.
• Proven ability to independently manage multiple complex assets while exercising sound judgment and attention to detail.
