Senior Applied AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of client engagements from initial discovery to production and the subsequent months of operation.

• Collaborate with client operations, clinical, and IT teams to gain insights into existing workflows.

• Design, create, and implement AI agents tailored for healthcare and pharmaceutical operations.

• Integrate these agents with client systems, such as CRM, EHR/EMR, practice management, claims, and specialty pharmacy platforms.

• Develop real-time voice capabilities that encompass telephony, streaming audio, speech input/output, and latency management.

• Extract consistent structured data from unstructured healthcare documents.

• Implement and oversee write paths into systems of record, including managing failed actions.

• Establish post-launch testing, measurement, monitoring, and quality assurance processes.

• Create reusable patterns and components for upcoming deployments.

• Relay field learnings back to Product and Platform Engineering teams.

• Manage systems that engage with real patients in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in integrating LLMs into authentic workflows that handle real inputs and downstream transfers.

• Hands-on experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets, streaming media, event-driven architectures, or high-throughput API services.

• Familiarity with external system integration, including CRM, EHR/EMR, claims, specialty pharmacy, or similar systems, particularly involving write operations.

• Experience managing a complete system from start to finish.

• Client-facing engineering experience with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proficiency in Python and either TypeScript or Node.

• Experience in delivering production applications.

• Capability to deploy and manage applications at scale on AWS or GCP.

• Knowledge of containers, CI/CD processes, monitoring, and security best practices.

• Understanding of HIPAA-compliant environments and data protection standards.

• Nice to have: experience with voice or telephony infrastructure at scale, including Twilio, LiveKit, Pipecat, or Amazon Connect.

• Nice to have: expertise in document AI and extraction from low-quality scanned inputs.

• Nice to have: familiarity with healthcare or pharmaceutical domains.

• Nice to have: knowledge of workflow engines, rules engines, or state machine architectures.

• Nice to have: experience in forward-deployed roles or professional services within an AI or data company.
